13 July, 2025

An interview with Artem Besedin, associate professor of the Department of History of Foreign Philosophy at Moscow State University. About life and philosophy.

Our center employee Artem Besedin gave an interview to the Philosophers YouTube channel. In this detailed conversation, he spoke about his views on key philosophical issues, thoughts on morality, metaphysics and epistemology, and also shared personal values, favorite books and thoughts on happiness. In the first part of the conversation, Artem Petrovich's life guidelines were discussed: what virtues he values most, what he considers his main shortcoming and what he sees as the source of happiness and unhappiness. He also spoke about his favorite writers, fictional characters and the qualities he would like to possess. In the second part of the interview, the conversation turned to philosophy. Fundamental questions were discussed: are moral values objective, is progress possible in philosophy, does God exist and is it possible to prove the existence of the external world. Particular attention was paid to the nature of consciousness and the question of whether it is a physical phenomenon. This interview is a rare glimpse into the philosophical thoughts of a researcher for whom philosophy is not just a profession, but a way of life.
