The deadline for applying for summer school has been extended!

Summer school "Metaphysics of possible worlds" enrollment has been extended until May 16. The school will be held on June 26 - July 4, 2021 in Nizhny Novgorod.


Students of the 2nd year of bachelor's degree and older, master's degree students and postgraduates are invited to participate. For the duration of the school, the Moscow Center for Consciousness Research (MCCS) provides accommodation, breakfasts and a cultural program.

To participate, you must submit an application that includes:

1. Information about the participant: full name, date of birth, email address and phone number, status (student/graduate student, university), description of the field of scientific interests, information about scientific achievements (if available).
2. A recommendation from a professor in free form (can be sent by the professor in the form of an e-mail to a.besedin@hardproblem.ru ).
3. An essay on one of the proposed topics with a volume of 10-15 thousand characters:

  • Is "I" a rigid designator?
  • Does two-dimensional semantics justify the possibility of zombies?
  • Is modal realism a paradise for philosophers?

The essay must be submitted in Russian in a form suitable for blind review (the file with the essay should not contain references to the author's name or any fragments revealing the author's identity).

When writing an essay, it is recommended to rely on the following sources:

When selecting an essay, the knowledge of literature on the topic of the school, the independence of the analysis of texts and the arguments put forward will be evaluated. The results of the selection will be announced no later than June 1.
