This research seminar is dedicated to the book by Maria Shekhman "Staying Alive". In that book, Maria Shechtman is offering a new approach to the problem of personal identity - the personal life view.
It's been published Finikoviy Compote No. 13 dedicated to the problem of personal identity. Who are we? What are we? What makes us who we are? What role does the past play in shaping our Self? Attempts to answer these questions can be found on the pages of the new FC.
'Philosophical Provocations: 55 Short Essays' is a new book by Colin McGinn, which we decided to discuss at our seminar. McGinn is an interesting modern philosopher who has developed a Mysterian position in the philosophy of mind and also written books on epistemology, philosophy of cinema, literature, and metaphilosophical problems.
We discussed a book by Aaron Preston "Analytic Philosophy. History of Illusion". Preston claims that Analytic philosophy doesn't exist, and have been never existed as a philosophical school or tradition. It's just an illusion in its very essence. We looked at his arguments and tried to figure out whether analytic philosophy exist or it is really an illusion.
