Oct ‘17

October 7th there will be held a lecture “Neuroscience and the Problem of Free will” by Anton Kuznetsov in MSU. Free admission! For details look below.

The lecture will be held at the Shuvalovsky educational building of the Moscow State University Lomonosov Avenue 27 building 4, 3rd floor, the E355 audience. Beginning at 12 p.m. till 13.30 p.m.

Free will is an important component of our image of the world. This is what sets us apart from stones, tables, and chairs. Human activity is not only guided by physical laws, but also by motives, desires, wills, decisions, behind which is an agent or Self, who rejects or accepts this or that action on its own will. But what if it is not so? Contemporary studies in neuroscience show that even before making decisions, the appearance of desires in the brain there is a physiological activity that determines what decision will be made, what desire will appear. Are we the puppets of our brains? And then what about free will, how does a person differ from a stone in this case? This topic will be devoted to this lecture.
